HOW DOES IT DIFFER FROM A REGULAR AUCTION SITE?

Lots of Charity opens the world of charity auctions and benefits to a far wider audience. Able to accommodate and benefit numerous charities, we provide a platform for them to match exclusive auction Lots with bidders.

The Lots of Charity team works with charities and their ambassadors, drawing upon a wealth of connections and brands to enhance the charity's fundraising potential and creating Lots that are remarkable.

Payments for winning bids are made direct to the charity.

AUCTIONS

ONLINE is a traditional online auction where bids can be made on each Lot and which is time-limited, starting on a specified date and time with the highest bid being accepted when the auction closes online at an advertised date and time.

Start and Close dates and times for all Online Only auctions will be advertised when first posted on the AUCTIONS section of lotsofcharity.com

LIVE AUCTION is an online only auction where bids can be made on each Lot in advance, concluding with a real-time LIVE auction, held at a pre-determined, advertised time. ABSENTEE or MAXIMUM bids can be placed on any of the lots and/or you can join the Auction and bid live.

Each Live auction will begin at the advertised time. Lots will be offered in sequential order (beginning with Lot 1 as listed in the online catalogue) with a countdown clock set for a pre-determined time, commonly 35 - 45 seconds. Any bid made in the last 15 seconds will automatically reset the countdown clock back to 15 seconds and bids will continue to be accepted until the winning bid has been made. The Live auction will end when the last lot has been counted down. Dates and start times for all Live auctions will be advertised when first posted on the AUCTIONS section of lotsofcharity.com

Reminders will be sent to you by email and text. The LIVE AUCTION button will appear on the top bar of the screen 10 minutes before the start of the Live auction giving you an advanced opportunity to Sign In. You will be able to Log In either before or during the Live Auction. If you are an observer only you can watch the Live auction if registered but without the need to Sign In.

AUCTION ONLINE TO LIVE EVENTS is an online auction where bids can be made on each Lot in advance and which is time-limited, starting on a specified date and time with the highest bid being accepted when the auction closes online at an advertised date and time. The MAXIMUM bids will be taken, on the successful bidder's behalf, to a Live Event which will be advertised in the AUCTIONS section of www.lotsofcharity.com. The Maximum bids will be transferred to either / or both the Silent Auction lots and the Live Lots, led by an auctioneer, as advertised in the Event brochure. At some nominated events, the highest online bidders will be invited to continue to bid online at the same time as the Event Auctions are being presented live. Times will vary dependant on the Event schedule.

Confirmation that you are the highest bidder online will be sent to you by email and text. You will be given an opportunity to set a maximum bid to be taken into the live event if the live event does not allow online bidding during their auction.

If the live event allows online bidding, the AUCTION ONLINE TO LIVE EVENT button will appear on the top bar of the screen at the start of the Silent Auction at the Live Event and 30 minutes before the start of the Live auction, led by an Auctioneer, giving you an advanced opportunity to Log In and to,exclusively, join the Live Event. Otherwise, the maximum bid from the online highest bidders will be 'sealed' and taken into the live auction at the event.

ABSENTEE AND MAXIMUM BIDS

We realise that everyone is busy so you don't have to be monitoring a Lot constantly to keep up to speed with the bidding. Maximum bid allows you to enter an amount of money which is the highest bid you are prepared to pay. The system will automatically bid for you in increments. If you are the only person bidding on that Lot, you will only pay the reserve price rather than your maximum bid. However if others are bidding on the Lot, should you be outbid, the system will increase your bid until it reaches your maximum bid. Should someone bid over your maximum bid you will then be notified that you have been outbid. To continue you will then need to increase your maximum bid should you wish. You will need to return to the Lot on the website to increase your bid.

PAYMENT

If you are successful with a bid you will receive an email from the charity giving you details on how to make your payment. Most charities will accept card and paypal payments.

Successful bidders will pay the charities direct. No payment is taken by Lots of Charity. Charities who use the Lots of Charity website will have agreed to pay a 10% fee to the company to cover marketing costs plus administration and legal costs. Bidders will not pay another other party other than the charity. You should receive an email from the relevant charity once the bid has been won. You will be able to liaise direct with your charity on payment and taking delivery of the lot.
